February 26, 1945 – May 1, 2014
Mike Formicola
Ormond Beach, FL: Formerly of Rochester, NY age 69, peacefully went up to the arms of the Lord May 1 st surrounded by his loving and devoted wife and sons in the home they built 30 years ago.
Mike and Marilyn shared a wonderful and exciting life for 43 years; working side by side in their many businesses- two of which were Bay-Side Construction in NY and FL and Blind Bay Marina in the 1000 Islands.
They were blessed with 2 wonderful sons Anthony (Amanda) and Jason (Shirley), of whom Mike was extremely proud to carry on his business, cherish his memory and their lives together.
Most precious and joyful to his heart were his 2 adored grandchildren, Anthony Jr. and Isabella Formicola who will certainly miss their "Papa".
Those fortunate enough to have known him will remember his infectious laugh, generosity, his many stories but most of all the uncanny way of making everyone he befriended feel like they were part of our family-the most important thing for him.
He is also survived by his 2 brothers, Frank G. (Joanne), Sal (Liz); sister-in-law, Jean; many treasured cousins, nieces, nephews, and wonderful numerous friends so supportive to him and his family throughout his courageous battle with cancer for the last 18 months.
He was predeceased by his mother Mary (1965) and his father Frank (1996).
Friends may join the family Saturday (May 10) from 2-5 PM at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 1961 Ridge Road, Ontario, NY. At Mike's request-casual attire for calling hours. Burial will be private. He Only Takes the Best
God saw that he was getting tired,
A cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him
and whispered, "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes "The Best".
"A limb has fallen from our Family Tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says-Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you-
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest
Remembering all of you-how truly I was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small
Go on with your lives, don't worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin
Until the day comes we're together again".
