Ontario – Michael passed away on January 27, 2026, at age 73.  He was born in Geneva to the late Edward and Anne Newell Wood.  Mike grew up in Webster and graduated from R. L. Thomas High School in 1970.  He moved to Southport, Connecticut, and graduated from Norwalk Community College in 1972.

Mike enjoyed following the New York Mets, reading, hunting, and spending time with family.   Mike mentored many students through a local organization.  He also loved playing Santa Clause each December when he was employed at Stew Leonard's in Connecticut and also for various organizations like the VFW and at local hospitals.

Mike moved to Ontario in 2000 and lived at Brown Square Senior Apartments where he enjoyed the company of many new friends.

Mike was predeceased by his parents Edward and Anne Newell Wood.  Mike is survived by his siblings Liz Albright, Kate (Cliff) Balzer and Patrick (Lisa Hall) Wood, nieces and nephews John (Stephanie) Albright, Christine (Gary) Carnahan, D. J. (Jana) Sebestyen, Scott Sebestyen, and great nieces and nephews James Carnahan, Kit Carnahan, Jacob Albright and Natalie Albright.

Michael will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
