Nelson G. Schommer

Palmyra: Sunday May 4, 2014 at age 77.  Nelson was predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Emily Schommer; brother, Duane Schommer.  He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Cheryl Schommer; children, Ronald (Doreen) Schommer and Dawn Schommer; grandchildren, Raylyn, Ryin and Abby Schommer; sister and brother-in-law, Marlene (Robert) Chatterson; sister-in-law, Kathy Schommer; 3 special kitties, Matt, Jeff and Lucy; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Nelson proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.  He then worked as a deputy for the Wayne County Sheriff's Department and after 31 years of service, he retired.  Nelson briefly worked for H.P Neun in Fairport, NY.  He was a longtime volunteer of Lincoln Fire Department and had a long standing membership of the Wayne County SCOPE.  Nelson enjoyed guns, fishing, collection gems, watching NASCAR, IndyCar and enjoyed his luncheons with his Wayne County Retired Sheriffs.  He will be missed.
