Richard Lee Mills "Richie"
Pittsford
Passed away peacefully on Monday,February 16, 2026 at the age of 96. Richie was born in Rochester, NY on Saturday, February 8, 1930 to Harold and Martha Mills. He is predeceased by his wife Marilyn 'Pretz' Boucher Mills and grandson Benjamin "Ben" Lee Mills. Richie is survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Renee) and Craig (Donna Marie) and his grandchildren Summer, Juliet, and Theo.
Richie grew up in Brighton with his brother Ken. He attended Brighton High school and went on to serve 2 years in the Army during the Korean War. After the war, Richie went to college at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Richie and Ken enjoyed spending much of their summer months at their family cottage on Lake Ontario. Richie and Pretz were married in 1956, in Port Huron, Michigan, Pretz’s hometown. Richie is known for his positive, grateful attitude and his beautiful smile. He loved to make people laugh and smile with his quick wit. Richie loved to work including his job and working on his yard on Cullens Run in Pittsford where he lived since 1958. After retiring from his full time job, he went to work with Craig’s painting business and loved working with the guys and was always excited about going to work. Richie was serious about his physical fitness and worked out almost every day! He loved his dogs (Kelly, Tibbals, Shellie, Skyler, Tripper and Maxie). Powder Mills Park was an important part of his life and Richie enjoyed hiking with his dogs and friends with their dogs. He had incredible stamina and was on the go from sunup to sundown! Richie truly LOVED life and all the many friends he made along the way. Right up until the last few days of his life, Richie was still trying to figure out ways to overcome his aging body and brain. As hard as he tried, Father Time remained undefeated and Richie drew his final breath.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life for Richie at the Grandview Lodge in Powder Mills Park, June 6, 2026 starting at 2PM.
