Richard D. Nuijens Sr.    "Dick" Went home to be with his Lord on July 29, 2016

1938-2016

Macedon:  Predeceased by parents Robert and Elma Nuijens; and brother Paul Nuijens.  Richard is survived by his beloved wife Shirley; his brother Dale (Jean) Nuijens;  sons, Richard Jr. (Joanne) Nuijens, Andrew (Amy) Nuijens, Matthew (Maria) Nuijens, and Daniel (Kristin) Nuijens; Step-children, Brenda Marshall, William (Alicia) McKee, Richard (Liz) McKee and Julie (Doug) Rowe-Baxendell;   many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dick also left behind his beloved dog Rozie.

Richard was an alumnus of Alfred State University, and served in the United States Coast Guard. After his service in the Coast Guard he became a City of Rochester Firefighter and completed twenty years of dedicated service with them.  He retired when his father passed away in order to take over the family business Nuijens Greenhouses also in Rochester.  In retirement, continuing his history of service, Richard moved to Macedon, NY in 1985 where he joined the Macedon Volunteer Fire Department and served for 11 more years.

Richard's passion was always in his barn where he restored many classic cars.

He will be missed by many friends and family.

Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1040 State route 31, Macedon, NY 14502.  A memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
