Obituary

Ronald W. Sherman

Macedon – Ronald W. Sherman, 75, passed away peacefully on November 2nd after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Ron's family was the center of his world, and he was the rock of theirs.

Born in Flushing, New York, Ron was a graduate of Lindenhurst High School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Chick Sherman. Ron went on to graduate from SUNY Brockport with a degree in Health Education. He was a beloved teacher at Pittsford Mendon High School for over thirty-five years where he touched the lives of countless students and staff. While at Pittsford Mendon, he proudly shared his love for the outdoors by establishing a Camping Club where he took many students on adventures in the Adirondacks.

Ron was a lifelong learner who loved traveling, fishing, reading, and most importantly spending time with his family. Although he and Chick traveled the world, many of his greatest memories were made at his favorite place, Campbells Point, where he spent every summer. He was a superfan of the New York Mets, Buffalo Sabres, Syracuse Orangeman and especially the Buffalo Bills. Ron also loved supporting his grandchildren by taking them on trips of a lifetime and attending all of their many extracurricular activities.

Some of the organizations that benefitted from his generosity of community service included: Palmyra-Macedon Dollars for Scholars, Meals on Wheels, St. Patrick Food Pantry, Advent House, and Macedon Canal Trails. In addition to his volunteerism, Ron was also driven by his unwavering faith and loyally worshiped at the First Baptist Church of Macedon. Ron enjoyed serving as deacon and the fellowship with his Lord and church family.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Virginia Sherman, and family members Dick and Fanny Corigliano, Gary and Carolyn Sherman, Connie and Hank Dirska, and Frank Houston.

He is survived by his BEST GIRL, Chick Sherman, children; Kim Dranichak, Kristin (Andy) Wahl, and Kevin (Becca) Sherman, grandchildren; Owen (Jenna) and Alex Wahl, George and Tyler Dranichak, Chase and Kenley Sherman, sister-in-law, Cathy Houston, brother in law, Rich Corigliano, a cherished aunt, cousins, nephews, nieces, and many close friends.

There will be a Celebration of Ron's Life for all who wish to attend on Saturday, November 25th, at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Macedon, 58 W. Main St., Macedon, NY 14502.

For those who wish to honor his life, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Macedon or Palmyra-Macedon Dollars for Scholars.

As always, Go Bills!
