Macedon NY: Died on October 10, 2024 at age of 95. Roy was the third son of deceased parents, Marie and Peter Vanderwall of Palmyra NY, and husband of Martha S for 56 years, who predeceased him in 2008. Also predeceased by three brothers: Lt. Clarence J. Vanderwall (WWII Navy Pilot), Kenneth Vanderwall in 1992, and Earl Vanderwall in 2017.

Survived by two children, Krista A. (Thomas) Marchand of Blackstone MA, and John W. (Karen) Vanderwall of Oracle AZ, and three generations of nieces and nephews.

Roy was active in the local classis of the Reformed Church of America as well as serving on the Palmyra Reformed Church consistory for several terms. Roy and Martha were also active volunteers and supporters of local Food Pantries for many years.

His military career consisted of 2 years in the U.S. Army from 1950-52, serving most of that time training others at Ft Meade, Maryland.

Roy retired from Garlock in Palmyra NY after 40 years of service in sales and marketing. For 15 of those years, he serviced the Steel Industry as the Midwest Marketing Manager in the Chicago area where he and Martha raised their family. After retirement, Martha and Roy enjoyed several trips exploring the U.S. and Europe, as well as extending his sales career with Hunt Real Estate.

A "Celebration of Life" honoring Roy, as well as his brothers and their wives is scheduled for Saturday (October 19), 12 PM at the Palmyra Reformed Church, (Church Hall for celebration), 232 Canandaigua St., Palmyra, NY 14522. Those attending are requested to wear bright colors and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Palmyra Reformed Church to be applied toward a Camp Fowler fund in memory of both Roy and Martha Vanderwall.
