IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Saralynn "Sara"
Camp
May 11, 1965 – October 11, 2025
Saralynn Camp
Walworth/Macedon: Passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Sara was predeceased by her mother Carol Camp; father Richard Camp; and brother Jeffery Camp. Sara is survived by her loving husband Michael Basile; brothers Richard (Lisa) Camp, AJ Camp, Walter Camp; sister-in-law Anna Camp (Jeffery); stepchildren Rebecca Murfin and Dane Basile; five grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Sara lived a courageous life. She dealt with lifelong health issues, but she never let them stop her from living life to the fullest. For most of her life, she kept her health issues well-hidden with her positive, life-is-full-of-adventure attitude. Sara grew up as the only girl in a family of four boys in the town of Pittsford with her parents Richard and Carol. She learned many life skills in her early years, especially because of her brothers. She graduated from Pittsford-Mendon High School and eventually went on to earn her Special Education degree from Nazareth College. She began her teaching career as a special ed teacher at Victor Central School in the early 1990's, but that was just the beginning. Always an innovator, Sara was one of the founders of the Multiage program that thrived for a couple of decades in the Victor Primary and Intermediate buildings. During the two or three years that students were in her classroom, Sara was devoted to the intellectual and emotional well-being of "her kids." She was always able to see the good in the most challenging of students. The students' families were welcome in the classroom, often volunteering to share their talents or special interests. Learning was fun in Sara's classroom. She researched innovative ways of teaching and organized events such as the Invention Convention, plays celebrating events in history, and weekly talent displays. Her sense of humor was ever present in the classroom, and especially among her colleagues. Even after retiring from VCS, her intellectual curiosity and devotion to teaching continued, as she worked with a family of much-loved homeschooled children.
Sara's first and only marriage was to Mike Basile in 2012 in a beautiful ceremony in Hawaii. She was welcomed by his two daughters Becky and Dane and a granddaughter Alexis. Eventually, she was grandma to four others. She enjoyed their company and found diverse ways to keep them entertained.
Time spent with Sara was treasured time whether you were family or friend. Her sharp wit kept you laughing, and her generosity made you grateful you were part of her life. She was generous with loving words and with gifts, often a surprise, never expecting anything in return. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit and cherished memories will remain in our hearts forever.
