Shirley M. VanGee, born on September 17, 1943 in Marion, NY, passed away peacefully on October, 16 2024, in Rochester, NY. Shirley, affectionately known as "Shirl," was a devoted homemaker whose life revolved around her family; her sons Peter (Mary Lou), Jason (Kasey), and grandchildren Jenna, Luke and Sam. Shirley is also survived by her loving husband Dennis VanGee; her brother, Steven (Sarah); niece, Misty Frank (Keith); and cousins.  She held a special place in her heart for her home in Marion, NY and her spirit will continue to live on through her family and friends who will remember her warmth and zest for life.

Shirley's infectious personality and remarkable recall made her a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew her.  She had a passion for life that was evident in her favorite pastime, which included spending quality time with her grandkids and enjoying trips to the casino, where her love for winning money was unmatched.  A fan of BBQ ribs and apple pie, she also delighted in the sounds of country and western music.

In addition to her family and hobbies, Shirley was an active member of her community, contributing her time and energy to the Senior Citizens of Macedon and organizing high school class get togethers for Marion High School.  Her commitment to her community and strong Catholic faith were defining aspects of her life.

Family and friends are invited to attend Shirley's Funeral Mass on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Resurrection, 63 Mason Rd., Fairport, New York 14450.
