Ontario: Shirley passed away on March 1, 2016 at age 75. She was born on March 19, 1940 in Irondequoit, NY to the late Oscar and Genevieve VerStraete. Shirley was predeceased by her brother, Donald VerStraete. She is survived by her husband, Thomas F. Mizelle; children, Brian (Suzie) Garnsey, Janet (Charles) Fleury and Patty (Bruce) Barber; step-children, Shahaamah (Jamie) Morris and Romaude Mizelle; grandchildren, Jessica, Nikki, Jamie, John, Tiffany, Colleen and Taylor; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Irene (Bill) Morrison, Jane Humphries, Beverly (Ken) Dippel; dogs, Oscar and Hunter; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shirley worked at Xerox for 25 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Ontario, NY. Shirley loved her family and her dogs.
Friends may join the family for calling hours on Monday (March 7) from 4-7 PM at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 123 East Jackson St., Palmyra, NY 14522, where her funeral service will be held on Tuesday (March 8) at 11 AM. Interment in Palmyra Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Shirley's name may be directed to Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Rd., Lyons, NY 14489.
