Susue Elizabeth Packard Leith
Formerly of Macedon
Age 61, of 8020 Waterford Drive in Stanley, NC, died on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. She was born August 6, 1955, in Monroe County, NY, to the late William F. and Clara Moore Packard. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring friend.
She is survived by husband of 38 years, Victor Leith; son, Ian and daughter-in-law, Leslie Leith of Iron Station, NC; daughter, Olivia Leith of Shelby, NC; sister Elaine and brother-in-law Sharon Hegeman of Walworth, NY; sister Nancy and brother-in-law John Crowley of Middlesex, NY; grandson, Owen Leith; as well as beloved nieces and cousins.
Susue was very active socially in both High School and College. She graduated with honors from Venice High School, Venice, Florida. She obtained a BA in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and Criminal Justice from the University of South Florida in Tampa. She married Vic in 1978. They moved to Boca Raton, Florida, in 1979, relocated to Mint Hill in 1983, and moved to the Lake Norman area in 1990.
Over her working career, Susue was employed by Busch Gardens, IBM, and Employment Solutions. She was sole proprietor of her own craft business for several years. Susue retired in order to become a full time homemaker.
Susue was active in various civic and community organizations. She volunteered at school, was active in PTA, delivered meals on wheels, was a rape crisis volunteer, and was a long serving animal rescue volunteer. Susue joined Unity Presbyterian Church in 1995. She taught Sunday school, organized craft activities for VBS, sang in several choirs, rang handbells, and was an original member of the Compassion, Peace, and Justice Team.
Susue had a life-long love for the arts and shared her talents freely. Her laugh was infectious, her compassion limitless, her sense of humor delightful, and her spirit unbreakable. Susue's zest for life was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
