Thelma J. Harris Russell,

Lyons/Ontario: Thelma J Harris Russell, age 87, left us to be with her Savior on January 18, 2019.

Thelma was born at home in Ontario on June 11, 1931 to Elwin and Bertha Harris and brother Norman. She graduated in 1949 from Wayne Central High School. After graduating from Rochester Cosmetology she operated Thelma Russell's Beauty Shop for 50 years.

Active member of the North Ontario United Methodist Church. Member of the Ontario Historical Society. Thelma and Norman donated the one room brick school house and land which was the beginning of Heritage Square. Member of the Wayne County Art Group. She loved painting, crafts, photography, games, travel, flowers, and birds.

She will be greatly missed by her son Paul (Maxi) Russell and daughter Dawn (Doug) Straub, nephews, and many cherished friends.

Family and friends may gather for a time of visitation from 10 AM - 11 AM on Wednesday (January 23) at North Ontario United Methodist Church, 7200 Ontario Center Rd., Ontario, NY 14519, where her funeral service will be held at 11 AM.  Interment in Furnaceville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Thelma's memory may be directed to the church.  To view Thelma's full obituary or to leave the family an online condolence, please visit www.murphyfuneralservices.com.
