Thomas Michael Litzinger
July 13, 1955 – August 15, 2026
Thomas Michael Litzinger, 71, of Walworth, New York, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, love, and memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and colleague. Above all else, he was a family man. He found his greatest joy not in things, but in the people he loved and the time he spent with them. His family was his heart, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them.
Tom spent his career as a 911 dispatcher, a profession that reflected many of the qualities that came naturally to him: patience, compassion, calmness, and a willingness to help others. He was deeply respected and well liked by his colleagues, many of whom have shared stories of his remarkable sense of humor, his willingness to teach and train others, and his seemingly endless patience. Tom had a gift for making even the most difficult days a little lighter. He knew when to be serious and professional, but he also knew exactly when a little humor—or one of his infamous antics—was needed. He was, as many would say, both the professional and the fun.
Those who knew Tom will remember his infectious humor and his ability to make people laugh. He was selfless, caring, generous, and occasionally a little bit of a troublemaker—but always with an enormous heart. He had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and cared for, and his presence could fill a room.
Tom enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: good meat on the grill, a good bourbon or whiskey, and riding his motorcycle. But nothing compared to the happiness he found in being surrounded by his family. Those moments were what mattered most to him, and the memories he created with them will live on for generations.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Litzinger; his children, Jackie Petzing; Ryan (Lauren) King; Andy (Nichole) Litzinger; Loren (Tom) Fraley; and Adam Litzinger; and his grandchildren, Camden, Dalton, Hailey, Lennon, Steven, Grayson, Paxton, Beckett, and Eva. He is also survived by his siblings, David Litzinger and Joanne Alvey, along with extended family, friends, former colleagues, and countless people whose lives he touched along the way.
Tom leaves behind far more than memories. He leaves behind lessons in kindness, loyalty, generosity, humor, and the importance of showing up for the people you love. His laughter, stories, teasing, and unmistakable personality will be deeply missed.
Though his chair may be empty and his voice may no longer be heard, the love he gave so freely will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 22, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at Shamrock Jack’s, 4554 Culver Road, Irondequoit, New York. Family and friends are invited to come together to share stories, laughter, memories, and a drink in Tom’s honor—the way he would have wanted it.
Tom lived with an enormous heart, a wicked sense of humor, and a love for his family that knew no bounds. He will be missed more than words can say and remembered with more love than words could ever capture. To share a special memory please visit www.murphyfuneralservices.com.
