Ontario: Thomas J. Rodriguez, born on January 24, 1941, in Oriente Province, Preston, Cuba, passed peacefully on December 2, 2024, in Rochester, NY. He was a devoted husband to Patricia Rodriguez and a cherished member of his community. Thomas was predeceased by his mother Isabel Luisa Vicente-Rodriguez, and father Tomás Rodriguez. Thomas is survived by his sons Thomas Robert (Deena) Rodriguez, Robert Thomas Rodriguez, sister Raphaela (Donald) Arena, nephews Anthony Arena and Nicholas (Shannon) Arena, nieces Gina (Jim) Serafin and JenAlyse (Paolo) Arena Villacorta, grandchildren Maj David Rodriguez (USAF), Philip (Anna) Rodriguez, Shannon (Cole) Purpura and five great-grandchildren. Through marriage Thomas is survived by two children Vallere (Dan) Hickok, Kevin (Sarah) Jones and three grandchildren Nathan Hickok, Noah Hickok, and Austin Jones. Thomas is also survived by the family dog, Maple.
Thomas proudly served in the United States Navy, where he rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. His uniform appearance was impeccable, and he was the embodiment of a US Navy Chief. His dedication and leadership were evident not only in his military career but also as a maintenance supervisor, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Known for his loyalty and patriotic spirit, Thomas established great friendships throughout his life and was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends.
A man of many talents, Thomas spoke fluent Spanish, and held dual citizenship, reflecting his rich heritage and connection to both Cuba and the United States. In addition to his professional achievements, Thomas had a passion for the water. He loved boating and cherished every moment passing along his passion for Corvettes to his sons. His fondness for Cuban black beans and rice, along with black forest cake, were favorites he enjoyed with family and friends.
Thomas was also deeply involved with the Sodus Bay Yacht Club, where he showcased his leadership and passion for the maritime community. His distinctive laugh and warm spirit made him a treasured friend and family member.
Everyone should have the good fortune of traveling through life with a best friend. Charles Conrose was the "Chiefs" best friend. Thank you for your more than fifty years of caring and friendship.
Thomas was a Roman Catholic and carried his faith with him throughout his life. His warm spirit and generosity left a lasting impact on those that knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who shared in his life and love.
