Trout, Thomas S.

Trout; daughters, Elizabeth "Betsy" Kennedy, Kathryn "Kathy" (Scott) Bristol, Carolyn "Carrie" (Brian) Carl, Jennifer "Jen" (Jason) Hosbach; beloved "Bumpa" to 7 grandchildren, Colleen Kennedy, Heather and Brian Bristol, Jared and Justin Carl, Matthew and Mia Hosbach; mother, Thelma Starr Trout and sister, Patricia Williams of Clearfield, PA; sister, Bea Anne Decker of State College, PA; mother-in-law, Leona Van Hoyweghen of Dubois, PA; brother-in-law, Joseph (Karen) Van Hoyweghen; several nieces, nephews, dear friends. A special thank you to Diane Blair, R.N. He was predeceased by, his father, Thomas B. Trout and his father-in-law, Joseph V. Van Hoyweghen.
Tom spent his entire teaching career at the Marion Central School District as a mathematics teacher for 34 years. He was a section five wrestling official, inducted into the section five wrestling hall of fame in 2007. Upon retirement, Tom fell in love with the St. Lawrence River, where he spent much of his time with his wife and dog "Skipper", aboard his boat "Reel Trout".
When Tom was diagnosed with cancer in the spring of 2008, the family's hearts were broken. Surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and treatments, one by one failed. Tom and his wife decided they needed something to keep them going, day by day. Their good fortune helped them discover a quote by a Vivian Greene. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass; it's about learning to dance in the rain." Since spring 2008, Tom and his wife have had a marvelously good time learning to dance in the rain. On December 5, 2013, the dancing stopped. Rest in peace to a very dear man, Tom Trout.
