Walter "Walt" B. O'Brien

Rochester, NY:  Passed away on October 22, 2022. Walt was born on September 21, 1949 to the late John E. O'Brien and Eleanor (O'Neil) O'Brien. He is survived by his sons Joshua and David, his daughters-in-law, Elise and Meredith; grandchildren Audrey Alice and Miles Walter; sister-in-law Gale and long time companion Lynn. He is also predeceased by his brother John.

Walt graduated from the University of Detroit with a degree in history and was a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon Fraternity. For over 25 years, Walt worked as a design engineer at Kodak and other firms, and as an election inspector for 37 years.

Walt loved all things history, science fiction/fantasy, sailing and was an encyclopedia of random knowledge. He had an extensive collection of coffee mugs and loved watching the Buffalo Bills with his sons. An epic storyteller, anyone who got a chance to hear stories about his college antics is better for the experience. He was a brilliant and kind-hearted soul who was always willing to help others and do good. Walt was a longtime resident of the Merchants-Culver triangle of the north Winton area of the City of Rochester and could often be found helping out his neighbors.

A graveside service will be held on Friday October 28, 2022 at White Haven Memorial Park on Marsh Road in Pittsford, NY.
