William E. Kromer

Palmyra/Penfield: After a long struggle with dementia, William passed away on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at age 86. William is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Kromer; children, Patricia (Noel) Kier, Karen (Wayne) Washburn, Michael (Vanessa) Kromer and Daniel (Lucy) Kromer; grandchildren, Shawn Washburn, Emily and Fiona Kier, Megan (Trevor) Wood, Melissa Christman and Zachary Kromer; great-grandchildren, Mia and Ayden Wood.

William was honorably discharged from the United States Navy after serving in World War II and was the recipient of the American Theater Medal and Victory Medal. He worked for Rochester Telephone for over 30 years. William enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He rasied homing pidgeons and belonged to the Rochester Pidgeon Club. The family wishes to thank the 2nd floor at Hill Haven for their loving care and kindness. A special thank you to William's physician, Dr. Joseph Kurnath for his devoted care.

William's funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 AM at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 1040 Route 31, Macedon, NY. His burial will be private. Contributions may be directed to the Humane Society at Lolly Pop Farm, 99 Victor Road, Fairport, NY 14450 or the American Diabetes Association, 160 Allens Creek Road, Rochester, NY 14618, in William's memory.
