Charlotte Louise Henderson Herold "Char"
Ontario: On Saturday, August 14, 2021, Charlotte L. Herold, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, entered into eternal rest at the age of 91. Predeceased in 2003 by her husband of 50 years, Robert G. Herold, Jr. and in 1959 by their infant daughter, April Etta Herold. Charlotte, the second oldest of nine children, was born on March 25, 1930 in Cortland, NY to Harold & Bertha "Jones" Henderson. She grew up in Tully, NY where she attended the Octagon Schoolhouse until the sixth grade and then on to graduate from Tully High School in 1947. On July 18, 1953, she married Robert George Herold, Jr. and spent the next 50 years in Nedrow, NY, raising their family of six; Robin (Steve) Brennan of Baldwinsville, NY; Robert (Jean) of Memphis, TN; Timothy (Kimberly) of Moline, IL; Russell (Lori) of Johnston, IA; Matthew (Janet) of Cedar Rapids, IA and Etta Crumb (Ron Patierno) of Ontario, NY. Charlotte had the pleasure of being a Grandma to twelve granddaughters and three grandsons and a Great-Grandma to four great granddaughters and four great grandsons.
Charlotte was very proud of the six children she and Bob shared. She truly enjoyed being a mom, a wife, and enjoyed the role of Grandma even more. She was known throughout the family for her sewing, quilting, tatting, pies, pork & spaetzels and any baked good that happened to be in the kitchen. She was the kind of Grandma that got down on the floor, or ground, to play with the grandkids. She loved holding babies and being part of any child’s life. She liked telling stories of the places where she used to live, or growing up during the depression. Charlotte moved to Ontario, NY in 2006 where she lived with Etta, Adam and Eric until she moved to St. Ann’s Community in Rochester, NY in 2018.
Charlotte will be greatly missed by her family, friends and anyone that knew her. All are invited to join together for a time of visitation, on Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1961 Ridge Road, Ontario, NY 14519.
