Dorothy Lee Parker was born October 9, 1935 in Midway, Alabama to Frank and Cynthia McKenzie. She passed away August 21, 2023.
Dorothy was the youngest of thirteen children. She relocated to Sodus, NY in 1961. Dorothy was also known as “Momma Dot”, a name given to her at a young age. She worked at Duffy Motts for 31 years before retiring in 1998.
Mrs. Parker faithfully attended Church of God by Faith in Sodus, NY where she was the mother of the church, under the leadership of Pastor George Dailey. Momma Dot loved the Lord. You could always catch her singing and humming church songs. She enjoyed “thrifting” and catching a good sale! She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by three sons: Curlie Mckenzie of Sodus, NY; Horace McKenzie of Seattle, WA; and Kenneth Mckenzie of Rochester, NY; two daughters: Shelba McKenzie of Ontario, NY; and Donna Parker of Newark, NY; eight grandchildren: Latasha McKenzie, Theresa McKenzie, Cynthia McKenzie and Marquis Mckenzie, all of Rochester, NY; Maria McKenzie of Union Hill, NY; Sheila Mckenzie of Ontario, NY; Gabriel Credit of Newark, NY; and Douglas Daniels of Albany, NY. Her memories will also be cherished by her four great-grandchildren: Indy Maring, Jaden Sowell, Riley Gumbs all of Rochester, NY; and Adrian Stedge of Newark, NY; and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Napolean Parker; her parents, twelve siblings, her daughter, Jean Ann Mckenzie and a special niece, Dorothy B. Simmons.
