Canandaigua – Elaine passed away on April 14, 2023 at age 75.  She was born in Canandaigua, NY to the late Michael and Elizabeth Lenzi.  She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert Lenzi and sister, Marjorie Hurrin.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 52 years, Edward Gardner; children, Warren M. Gardner, Beth Anne Gardner, and Brian E. Gardner; several nieces and nephews.

Elaine graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1966. She married her husband in 1971. She spent most of her working career as a cafeteria monitor and teachers’ aide for Canandaigua Primary School. Elaine also taught Sunday School at St. Mary’s Catholic Church after attending there as a child.  She enjoyed bowling and was a junior bowling coach for many years. She loved working with children and also caring for her family. In her retirement, she loved taking care of her cats and was a big animal lover. She was always putting others before herself.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12 pm – 2 pm on Sunday (April 30) at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 1040 Rte. 31, Macedon, NY 14502, where Elaine’s celebration of life will be held at 2 pm.  Elaine will be privately laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Canandaigua, NY.
