Elinor Phoenix Weldgen Obituary

Elinor Phoenix Weldgen, Williamson NY – Elinor passed away of non covid natural causes on December 11, 2021.  Born in Hyannis Port Village on July 5, 1937.  Predeceased by her husband, Gary J. Weldgen; parents Charles Dodge and Rebekah Varnum Dodge.

She is survived by her children, Terrie Phoenix and Tara Phoenix Fowler; grandchildren Chloe Bridgman and Rebekah Peck; and 4 great grandchildren. 

She is also survived by Gary’s siblings, Richard H. and Mattia B. Weldgen Jr., Thomas J. and Laurie S. Weldgen, Marjorie E. (Weldgen) Wilson and husband Richard Wilson, nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Elinor Weldgen was very active in the community she loved. Working at the Bayview YMCA for more than 20 years where she met her husband, Gary Weldgen. More recently, Elinor volunteered for several Chapters of the American Red Cross and Sodus Community Library. She also worked for local company, Helluva Good' at its gift shop in Sodus New York.

Elinor graduated in 1955 from Middletown Township High School in New Jersey. She continued her education at Farleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey earning a degree in dental hygiene.

Elinor and Gary were together for more than 40 years and shared a passion for gardening, bird watching and all wildlife. They created a home set on a park-like property brimming with flowers, trees and ponds which they meticulously cultivated over their years together. They had a mutual fondness for cats and adopted several from Cracker Box Palace over the years. Elinor's daughter Tara will continue to love and spoil their surviving cats Pepper and Goldilocks.

Internment arrangements were private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donation to the Wayne County Red Cross or Cracker Box Palace.
