Ellen Engelbrecht Obituary

Canandaigua

Ellen K. Engelbrecht passed away peacefully on May 10, 2020, in Canandaigua, NY from a prolonged illness. She was 74.  Born February 19, 1946, she was the daughter of Mary Sline Davids and Walter Arthur Davids of Geneva, New York. She graduated from DeSales High School in 1964 and subsequently attended Mater Dei College in Ogdensburg, New York. Ellen married Horst P. Engelbrecht of Geneva on September 10, 1966. While raising four children, tending to her travelling husband and after working at Sears, Ellen was able to start her own Antique business, Antique Emporium of Farmington, inspired by her Grandmother Sline’s love and knowledge of valuable collectibles. In recent years, she continued to sell antiques and sundry other items on eBay from home.

Ellen is survived by her husband Horst P. Engelbrecht of Canandaigua, New York and their four children Horst Christopher, Walter Eric, Julius Paul and Heidi Cripps and her brother Michael K. Davids of Webster, New York.  In addition, Ellen leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer and Ashley Engelbrecht of Canandaigua and Siena and William Engelbrecht of Dallas, Texas along with several nieces and a nephew.

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.  A special thanks to the kindness and care shown by the Ontario-Yates Hospice Care personnel during her last days.  A gathering of friends and family to honor Ellen’s life will take place at a later date at the direction of the family.
