Eugene "Gene" Anthony DeRomanis

Macedon, NY: Passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the age of 70.  Eugene was born to Anthony and Joan "Cassidy" DeRomanis in Roxbury, MA on Sunday, April 30, 1950. He lived with his family in Rochester, NY graduating from Aquinas institute in 1968. He served in the United States Navy from 1969 until 1975 where he learned engineering and boilerman skills. He then served the Rochester, NY community working as an HVAC mechanic and teacher.

Gene was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had and infectious smile, loved to laugh, and loved spending time with friends, and he took pride in staying in touch with them. Anyone that met Gene became his friend. He was a devout Christian and shared his faith in all walks of his life. He was also a dedicated Patriots fan who made sure to console his friends whose teams had been defeated by his. He loved to talk football after the games.

Gene also loved music! He was a singer, loved the drums, especially the congas at church, and he had a DJ business for many years. If you ever rode along with him while driving, you may have had the pleasure of having him ask you who you were listening to. He had an incredible memory and took pride in knowing the artists, song names and even years that the song was released.

He was predeceased by his parents;  and brothers Thomas and Joseph DeRomanis.  He is survived by his wife, Linda DeRomanis; his children from his first marriage; Lisa DeRomanis, Joanne "DeRomanis" Berg and Benjamin DeRomanis; Linda’s children Michael (Jamie) Shute, and Mandy (Mike) "Shute" Ford; 8 grandchildren, Amanda, Kalob, Joshua, Christopher, Jordan, Joshua, Gabrielle, and Rohan. He is also survived by his brothers Gerard (Cindy) DeRomanis, John (Sandy) DeRomanis and Cecelia (Mark Jones)DeRomanis as well as by so many nieces, nephews, cousins and very cherished friends.

Gene wished to have his family and friends celebrate his life and did not want calling hours. He also wished to be cremated. 

Due to COVID-19, a private service will be held with family including Gene’s church family on April 30, 2021 at 11:00am. The service can be live streamed at www.websterag.org. As you arrive to that site you will notice in the center of the page that it reads “watch online.”  This will be where you can join us online on April 30th.

In Gene’s memory, a donation can be made in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org/donate.
