Born on October 13, 1945, in Herkimer, NY, Merton “Mert” R. Demorest, Jr. passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018, after a long illness.  He was the son of the late Merton R. Demorest, Sr and Norma Jane “Ray”  Demorest.  He was predeceased by his  brother Gary Demorest and sister Gail Kinney.  He is survived by two sisters; Norma “Sue” Tullock and Marjorie DeGrande.  He is also survived by nine children – Denise DiSano, Christopher (Meghan) Demorest, Sheena (William Hargrave) Zielinski , Mindy (Jeremy) Eiseman, Andrew (Savannah) Demorest, Eric (Danielle Samsel) Demorest, Austin (Nicole Hogerman) Bergeron, Amelia (Nicholas) Easton, and Adam (Katlin Webber) Demorest.  He has 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He served in the US Marine Corps and proudly fought in the Vietnam war.  Upon his return home, he went to work for Eastman Kodak.  A good friend said “Once you met him, you never forgot him.”  He loved life and lived it to the fullest.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
