Myron Wright Obituary

Myron Kent Wright

Rochester – Myron passed away on January 7th, 2021 at age 70.

Myron was born on August 15th, 1950 to Russell Wright and Vivian Smith in Manhattan NY. Myron graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in New York City in 1967. Later in his life, he returned to college where he studied at the State University of New York College at Brockport. He received a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a Masters degree in public administration.

Myron worked as a corrections officer for New York State for more than 20 years. In 1971, he met Deborah (Walker), and they wed in 1975, going on to have 7 children, Keith, Walter, Joey, Leon, Russell, Victoria and Marquis along with a host of grandchildren.

Myron was a passionate fisherman. He enjoyed being on the water and spending time with those who he was fishing with. He also enjoyed hunting and was looking forward to a return to hunting before his passing.

Myron was passionate about the people he loved. He was willing to give anyone anything that he could. He loved to cook in the kitchen and on the grill. He was always looking for a bargain. While he was not rich monetarily, he helped many people in so many ways, including helping people move to Rochester, taking youth from his church on trips, being a basketball coach and mentor for children from the many communities. Myron was very giving person.

Myron was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his children and his wife Deborah and always tried his best to support them.

Anyone who knew Myron knew that he was the most loving father, husband and grandfather a family could ask for. Myron was predeceased by his mother, Vivian Smith, his father, Russell Wright, his mother-in-law Delilah Walker (Pinner) and father-in-law Douglas Walker, Sr. He is survived by his wife Deborah, his children Keith, Walter, Joseph, Leon, Russell, Victoria and Marquis (Megan); along with his sisters, Sharon and Denise; brother, Woody and many grandchildren; as well as other family and friends.

The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to 475 Alexander Street Rochester NY 14605. There will be a celebration of life in August 2021. To leave the family an online condolence, please visit Myron’s tribute wall, www.murphyfuneralservices.com.
