Patrick O'Connor "Brendan" Obituary

Patrick B. O’Connor

“Brendan”

Macedon – Brendan passed away on June 8, 2022 at age 82. Brendan was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Maggie Smith and partner, Carl, his brother-in-law, John Conneally and his wife Margaret.

Brendan is survived by his wife, Mary O’Connor; sons, Michael O’Connor and Kevin (Amy) O’Connor; grandchildren, Joaquin, Cypress, Nikko, Zuleika, Cára and Maryn; brothers, Paschal (Gail) O’Connor and Denis (Gloria) O’Connor; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy (Bill) Stonehall, Martin (Anne) and Michael Conneally; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Brendan was born in Co. Limerick, Ireland on July 20, 1939 to Michael and Margaret OConnor. He and his two brothers, Paschal and Denis attended school having to move a few times as their father served in the Irish Garda (Irish police force).
At the age of 13, his father passed away forcing the family back to Co. Kerry. There, Brendan attended the National School of Rathmore until the passing of his mother in 1954 when he was 14.
Brendan then left school picking up odd jobs to earn money and served an apprenticeship with Master Carpenter, Denny Moynihan, which lasted five years. Upon receiving his indenture, he immigrated to London, England where he worked on many projects including, the American Embassy.
In 1966 he left England and went to the US rejoining his brothers in Rochester, New York. After six months, Brendan was drafted into the United States Army, serving two years.
In 1969 Brendan met and fell in love with Mary Conneally from Co. Galway who had also immigrated from Ireland to live and work in upstate NY. They married in 1974. Within a few short years they settled into their home in Macedon, NY, having their two boys, Michael John and Kevin Patrick.
During this time, Brendan was employed with Azco Construction that later became Nichols Team. Brendan worked for Nichols Team, retiring after 38 years as their Senior Estimator.

Brendan was very proud to become an official American citizen on June 8, 2006, sixteen years to the date of his passing. He enjoyed his days woodworking, spending time with his family, relaxing at their Sodus Point cottage, traveling, and being a grandfather or “granddad” to his six grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all.
