William Edward "Rusty" Leyden, 69 of Macedon, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Rusty was born on August 9, 1953 to William Sr. and Ann (Stubbings) Leyden. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Rhonda (Cronk) Leyden, and infant granddaughter Joanna Leyden. Rusty is survived by his wife of 20 plus years Diane (Davis) Leyden; daughter Anna Casarona of Hornell, NY; three sons, Michael (Debra) Leyden of Andover, NY, Elijah Leyden of Everett, WA and Jonathan Leyden of Newark, NY; beloved grandchildren Harmony, Lily, Gideon and Eve; his sister, Carol Leyden Rowe; many nieces and nephews; and a special pet, Sophie the cat.
A gifted musician and songwriter, Rusty was a well-known country singer who performed throughout Long Island. Later on he received Jesus Christ into his life and was born again. Rusty started a Christian music ministry (RL Music Ministries), performing at coffee houses and churches throughout New York State, and producing three albums. Rusty loved Jesus, his family, the Buffalo Bills, corny jokes, and Diet Pepsi.
Friends and family may call on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 11am - 12pm at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapels, 1040 Route 31 Macedon, NY 14502. A celebration of life service will follow at Noon with Pastor Tony Martorana officiating.
