Walworth:  Passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Leo Center For Caring Hospice in Rochester, NY at the age of 80.  George was born on February 22, 1936 in Watertown, NY to the late Hans R. and Mabel “Snyder” Wiegand.  He was predeceased by his sisters;  Wilma Jones, Ruth Woods, and Jeanne Wiegand; brothers, Wilbert, Clyde, Ronald and Robert Wiegand.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth-Ann Wiegand; children, Ann Marie (Randy) Greco, Mark (Robin) Wiegand, Chris Wiegand and Craig (Lindsay) Wiegand; grandchildren, Tatianna, Victoria, Isaac;  Katelyn & Colby;  Cassidy & Nathan; sister, Shirley Summers; half-sister, Betty Wiegand; sisters-in-law,  Marilyn Wiegand and Pat Wiegand; half sister, Betty Wiegand, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

George went to school through the eighth grade at Phelps Mills Schools, and Watertown High School through the eleventh grade and spent his senior year at Brockport High School where he graduated.  He served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Intrepid where he learned the welding trade. George worked as a welder from 1972 until his retirement in 1998 at Xerox Corporation in Webster, NY.  He also taught welding at the BOCES night school program in Williamson, NY. Over the years, he drove school busses for Wayne Central Schools, primarily for sporting events.  He participated in the North South Skirmish Association (NSSA).  This organization promotes the shooting of Civil War era firearms and the preservation of Civil War materials.  Time with his family meant a lot to George, and in 1983, after years of camping in a motor home, the family embarked on a new legacy and purchased a cottage on Cayuga Lake.  George loved the cottage and the time that it allowed the family to spend together fishing and driving the boat for water skiing.
