Compo, Joan M.

Canandaigua/Pulaski, NY:  Passed away with her family by her side, at Strong Memorial Hospital,  on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the age of 73. 
Joan was born Joan M. Sharlow to the late Leyland and Marian Sharlow in Norfork, NY in 1942. Joan was married for 48 years to the late John D. Compo of Gouverneur, NY. They are survived by three children Kevin( Michelle) J. Compo of Oklahoma City OK., David( Michele) A. Compo of Palmyra, NY. and Mary Ellen( Scott) Borzor of Sandy Creek NY. , 7 Grandchildren, and 13 Great Grandchildren as well as numerous other family members.
“Jack” and Joan for the most part raised their family on a small farm in Pulaski NY. They opened a successful hunting and fishing lodge where they made many lifelong friends with both local residents, and clients, nation wide. Both retired to Florida in 2005. Joan, and family, lost Jack in 2011 and she subsequently moved back to upstate NY to be closer to her children.
John Compo was buried in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. and Joan will be joining him next spring in a service to be determined.  Both Jack and Joan, through a good part of their lives, were supportive of the Unity Acres Catholic outreach program in Orwell, NY. Joan has asked that in lieu of any flowers or gifts that these contributions be made to Unity Acres, PO Box 153, Orwell, NY 13426, to help further their good work. Both Jack and Joan lived their lives to the fullest, but especially appreciated and cherished their family and all of the friendships they made along the way.
