So sorry for the loss of Kip, from all I have read he unselfishly did clinical trials to help others with this disease find hope. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Our hearts are broken. Kip left such a great impression and I will always treasure the photographs he took of our daughters during soccer. He always captured that perfect picture. We have truly lost a wonderful person. Our thoughts are with Annette, Jessica, Ryan and the whole family.

Kip was a good man -- a lot like his wonderful dad, Larry. I am still trying to grasp this news. To Annette, Jess and Ryan, Faye, Michele, Duane, and Amy - I'm so sorry. Kip was always so kind and thoughtful. His loss creates a huge void. Sending much love.

My deepest sympathies to Annette, Jessica, Ryan, and Kip’s extended family. Kip fought not only a tough battle, but he showed others what “living” with cancer truly is like. Kip’s incredible zeal for life screamed aloud as he journaled about his next medication trial in the midst of cheering on his local soccer teams, gave shout-outs to his fellow referrees, and loved to mention with swelling fatherly pride about Jess and Ryan’s latest news in their lives. Kip didn’t lose his battle in my eyes, but as a Christian gained his place in his heavenly home. “To Live is Christ...to die is gain.” We are used to people either winning or losing as an outcome in sports. Kip was actually in the only “win-win” game of his career. In life and in death, I say...”GOOD GAME, KIP”. Annette, you were no doubt his biggest fan. May you find great comfort and rest in the promises of God, sweet friend.

It is always hard when we lose a fellow referee brother and soccer enthusiast. Although Kip joined our fraternal family of soccer referees later in life then most of us, he always demonstrated the passion we have as referees for the "love of the game" and the drive to make the games safe, fun and enjoyable for everyone involved. His thoughts and discussion about the game and how to be a better referee were always valued. I will personally miss those late night calls from Kip to discuss a game situation he was involved in or witnessed so he can get better. Kip was part of our young referee mentoring program which allowed him to share his passion for the game with others.
Scouting was another passion that Kip and I were able to share with our sons. Cub Scouts is what actually brought us together long before we knew our common love of soccer. I am thankful for Kip's son Ryan and my son Jason bringing us together at a Cub Scout Camporee. Then there involvement in youth soccer brought us together again. This is where I learned of Kip's passion for the game and planted the seed that by becoming a referee he could give back to the game. Kips passion was passed on to his daughter Jessica who became a referee as well.
Keep blowing the whistle my friend,
Kevin

Kip built a legacy of caring contributions in so many places - especially those that support and encourage youth. It has been a privilege to be friends ... since our own youth. Peace to Kip, Annette, Jess, Ryan, and extended McDowell families.
